EMI Lecture Series
EMI is pleased to make available to its members and to the wider engineering mechanics community the Maurice A. Biot Lecture, the Raymond Mindlin Lecture, the Elsevier Distinguished Lecture, and the Objective Resilience Lecture, given by outstanding mechanicians who share their insights on a broad range of recent advances in mechanics.
The lectures help understand and appreciate these advances, motivate and guide younger mechanicians, and provide a lasting record of the progress made.
The Maurice A. Biot Lecture was established at Columbia University in 2004 in remembrance of the late Professor Maurice Anthony Biot and his renowned achievements as an engineer, physicist, and applied mathematician. The lecture is a joint effort of the Department of Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics of Columbia University, the Engineering Mechanics Committee of the ASCE Met Section, and the Engineering Mechanics Institute of ASCE (EMI).
The Mechanics Research Communications Elsevier Distinguished Lecture Series features outstanding presentations given at the New Jersey Institute of Technology by some of the most prominent academics on a variety of topics in mechanics.
The Mindlin Lecture was established by the Department of Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics of Columbia University to honor the pioneering contributions of Prof. Raymond D. Mindlin to the field of applied mechanics. The lecture is a joint effort of the Department of Civil Engineering and Engineering Mechanics of Columbia University, the Engineering Mechanics Committee of the ASCE Met Section, and the Engineering Mechanics Institute of ASCE (EMI).
The Objective Resilience Lecture was established by the EMI Objective Resilience Committee and is given annually at the host university.
