David Unkefer is a Senior Engineer providing national leadership to the Federal Highway Administration and its partners. He is responsible for deploying innovative practices related to BIM for Infrastructure, digital project delivery, construction automation, and alternative contracting methods. He currently leads the FHWA's Every Day Counts initiative for “Digital As-Builts” and has previously led initiatives for 3D engineered models in construction. He serves on research committees for Project Delivery and Construction Management, and on the buildingSmart USA Committee for Education and Awareness. He is a professional engineer with degrees in Civil Engineering from the University of Florida and Purdue University.
