This professional member benefit allows 5 free article downloads from the ASCE Library each year. This includes journal papers, book chapters (except standards), and proceeding papers.

The ASCE Library is the home of the richest collection of civil engineering content of more than 200,000 technical articles, 550+ e-books and standards, and the high-quality, authoritative technical content found in 35 journals and 770+ conference proceedings.
These 5 free downloads include journals, magazine articles, proceedings papers, and book chapters (but not an entire book or standard). Students gain ASCE library access through their university library system.
Easy as 1, 2, 3...
1. Once on the ASCE Library website, login with your ASCE membership
2. Choose your journal or magazine article, book chapter, or conference proceedings, and select the green "Get access" button
3. Choose to apply a download credit from the choice of payment options that appear
How do I find out how many remaining article download credits I have in my account?
- After logging into the ASCE Library, click on your name in the top right corner
- Select My Profile. This takes you to the My Account page, which will default to display your Subscriptions/Purchases
- Under Subscriptions/Purchases select the Articles/Chapters tab (default display is Books). You will see your ASCE Member Yearly Article Pack under this tab, displaying how many article downloads are remaining for the year:
Do unused ASCE Member Yearly Article Pack credits rollover?
No, any unused credits will not rollover. On January 1 of each year, any credits remaining from the previous year will be removed and you will receive 5 new credits for the current membership year.
How long do ASCE member articles that I downloaded remain in my account?
Articles that you download using your “5 free downloads” benefit will remain in your profile with perpetual access as long as you maintain your ASCE membership.
ASCE Digital Content is non-returnable and non-refundable. Once you apply the ASCE Member Yearly Article Pack credit for an article or chapter download, it will be part of your ASCE Library account and is not returnable.
