Engineering News-Record offers an annual list of its Top 25 Newsmakers, honoring notable industry innovators and influencers, selected by ENR’s editors.
The recently published 2021 list features these six ASCE members:
Ersin Arioğlu, Aff.M.ASCE – Turkish structural engineer who has been the driving force behind what will be the world’s longest suspension bridge, the Canakkale 1915 Bridge over the Dardanelles strait in Turkey, connecting Asia and Europe.
Donald O. Dusenberry, P.E., F.SEI, F.ASCE – Forensic structural engineer and chair of an ASCE/SEI standards committee working on a consensus standard for disproportionate collapse mitigation of building structures.
Matthew R. Hallowell, D.Eng., A.M.ASCE – Professor of civil engineering at the University of Colorado Boulder and executive director of the Construction Safety Research Alliance, whose research is changing the way the industry measures construction safety.
Scott D. Harrigan, P.E., M.ASCE – President of precast concrete maker Fort Miller Co., which developed special load-bearing and attractive precast concrete required to build New York City’s Little Island park on the Hudson River.
Marc L. Levitan, Ph.D., A.M.ASCE – Lead research engineer in the National Windstorm Impact Reduction Program of the National Institute of Standards & Technology and chair of the ASCE/SEI 7-22 task committee on tornado loads, which developed the new tornado chapter of ASCE/SEI 7-22: Minimum Design Loads and Associated Criteria for Buildings and Other Structures.
Khaled Naja, Aff.M.ASCE – Executive vice president of infrastructure and development at Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, who developed the first-of-its-kind construction of a new 80,000-square-foot airport concourse using six prefabricated modules.
