ASCE has honored Kansas City Section Younger Member Group with the 2024 Younger Member Group Award for Small Groups and Los Angeles Younger Member Forum with the 2024 Younger Member Group Award for Large Groups for their outstanding professional, technical, social, outreach, and community service activities.
Advancing the transition between college and the workplace has been a major theme of the Kansas City Section Younger Member Group with all of the student sections that they support and advise. While hosting many local events for the younger members and "young at heart" members, they also planned and hosted the 2024 MRLC for the Central Region. After encountering severe weather, -30°F, the Kansas City Section YMG was able to pivot and alter their events leading up to the week of the event and ensured that everyone would be safe and have a great time while attending the conference. The Kansas City Section YMG show their dedication to ASCE proudly and are dedicated to the advancement of the profession of engineering.
The Los Angeles (LA) Younger Member Forum (YMF) is a group of individuals dedicated to serving the ASCE community and profession in every way possible. They excel in providing a variety of events to their membership, both social and professional, that are inclusive, social, technical, and professional. The LA YMF members are committed to serving on their local YMF while also serving the Society in roles at all levels – from student liaison roles to Regional Boards and Society Committees. The LA YMF’s school involvement stands out as being above and beyond as the YMF strives to provide outreach at all levels, to present awards, and to host contests and joint student chapter events. The Los Angeles YMG shows outstanding commitment toward ASCE and unparalleled dedication toward its members.
The Younger Member Group Award recognizes the most outstanding Younger Member Groups of the previous year.
