Dorairaja Raghu is currently a Professor Emeritus (retired), Civil and Environmental Engineering, New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), Newark, NJ. He has over 40 years of teaching and research experience serving at various institutions in USA and India.
Licensed in the State of New Jersey, he has consulted for several engineering projects. He has authored several research papers, won research grants and organized professional conferences. His primary areas of expertise are Geotechnical and Geo-environmental Engineering. At NJIT, he developed 2 courses in Rock Mechanics and taught them for over 30 years. He won the "Engineer of the Year" award from the North Jersey Branch of the New Jersey Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers. Also, he won several teaching awards such as professor of the year and best upper division undergraduate instructor at NJIT. His latest award was for distinguished service from the New Jersey Society of Professional Engineers. He has held leadership positions in several professional organizations such as ASCE and National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE). At the New Jersey section of ASCE, he has served in various capacities, the last one being that of Vice President, North Jersey Branch.
