D. Matthew Stuart, P.E., S.E., P.Eng., F.ASCE, F.SEI, A.NAFE

Purpose and Background

This webinar includes a discussion of structural investigations associated with deterioration or damage, renovation or upgrade, and alternation or adaptive reuse projects. The presentation will also include a structural investigation that was conducted for the adaptive reuse of a historic building.

Benefits and Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  1. List a number of different types of foundations.
  2. Explain the components of a Pre-Engineering Metal Buildings (PEMB).
  3. Describe the staggered steel truss framing system.
  4. Identify what a castellated steel beam is.
  5. Describe composite open web steel joist framing.
  6. Explain structural concrete panels.
  7. List the different types of metal deck including both roof and floor systems.
  8. Explain Cold Formed Metal (CFM) framing systems.
  9. Describe different types of wood and timber framing systems.
  10. List a number of different types of concrete framing systems including cast in place and precast.
  11. Explain tilt-up concrete wall construction.
  12. Describe Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) framing systems.

    Assessment of Learning Outcomes

Students' achievement of the learning outcomes will be assessed via a short post-assessment (true-false, multiple choice and fill in the blank questions).

    How to Earn your CEUs/PDHs

This course is worth 0.2 CEUs / 2 PDHs. To receive your certificate of completion, you will need to complete a short post-test online and receive a passing score of 70% or higher within 365 days from purchase.

How do I convert CEUs to PDHs?

    1.0 CEU = 10 PDHs [Example: 0.1 CEU = 1 PDH]
