Purpose and Background
The third and final webinar in our Nature-based Solutions (NbS) Webinar series will offer a deep dive into the more practical aspects of on-the-ground NbS design, financing, implementation and engineering. NbS for disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation have gained widespread attention in scientific literature and in funding agency portfolios. Yet several questions remain unanswered about how NbS for those purposes can be funded, designed, built, and managed effectively. This webinar will i) bring together a collection of case studies that implement NbS and ii) provide insights from these case studies on practical considerations for NbS implementation including financing mechanisms, valuation of NbS ROI including co-benefits, and forming effective partnerships.
This techsession will only award PDHs for completion if the course is taken OnDemand.
Learning outcomes and session benefits:
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Describe methods and mechanisms for valuing the ROI of NbS projects, including co-benefits
- List the steps involved in NbS implementation from conceptualization to management
- Demonstrate financing mechanisms frameworks to real world NbS case studies
- Identify examples and describe the value of effective multi-sector partnerships in planning and implementation of NbS
Assessment of Learning Outcomes
Learning outcomes are assessed and achieved through participation in the live Q/A with our speakers, and by responding to the post- session survey. If the course is taken OnDemand, there will also be a 10 multiple choice question post-test.
