ASCE has honored the following institution with the 2023 Walter LeFevre Award: In the Large Program category: the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Oklahoma State University for contributions to promoting licensure, ethics, and professionalism in an undergraduate civil engineering program.

The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Oklahoma State University demonstrates a strong emphasis on professional and ethical practice of engineering to its students through coursework – including four courses dedicated to professional practice and ethics topics – faculty requirements, and preparation of students to take the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. The program has seen an increase in the number of students passing the exam in recent years, with passing rates above the national average. The School also recently adopted an Honor Pledge for the program through which students commit to adhering to the University Code of Conduct and the ASCE Code of Ethics.

The Walter LeFevre Award recognizes academic institutions for their outstanding actions in promoting licensure, ethics, and professionalism.
