ASCE has welcomed the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying as the Society’s 2024 National Education Sponsor.
The sponsorship includes a significant financial commitment from NCEES to help fund various ASCE programming and initiatives. NCEES will be the title sponsor of the new Cities of the Future Campus Screening program that will give ASCE student chapters around the world access to the recently released IMAX film, Cities of the Future, produced by ASCE and MacGillivray Freeman Films.
“NCEES is a longstanding, trusted, and valued partner of ASCE with an aligned mission of advancing engineering excellence and safeguarding the health, safety, and welfare of the public,” said ASCE Executive Director Tom Smith. “ASCE and NCEES make a formidable team, and I know we can accomplish great things together.”
ASCE and NCEES have a successful history of working together on shared visions for the future of engineering and surveying. The organizations have collaborated on work for the Alliance for Responsible Professional Licensing, Discover Engineering activities (including the Future City competition that features prominently in the Cities of the Future film), and ASCE’s previous IMAX venture Dream Big: Engineering Our World.
“ASCE and NCEES share a commitment to advancing licensure,” said NCEES CEO David Cox. “We are thrilled to help support ASCE members on their path to licensure beginning in their student years, and to work with ASCE to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public through licensure.”
“We are so grateful NCEES has joined on as a National Education Sponsor for Cities of the Future, which is more than an IMAX movie; it is part of a larger educational and public outreach program to inspire young people,” said ASCE President Marsia Geldert-Murphey.
“Engineering organizations play a vital role. By fostering collaboration, sharing knowledge, and providing interactive educational experiences, we create a supportive ecosystem that not only strengthens our profession but also cultivates the passion and enthusiasm needed to attract more young minds to the field of civil engineering.”
