The American Society of Civil Engineers awarded its 2025 CAN-AM Civil Engineering Amity Medal to long-standing Canadian Geotechnical Society and ASCE member, and former CGS President (1977-1978), Don Shields of Victoria, BC. The award, established in 1972, recognizes “civil engineers who have made outstanding and unusual contributions toward the advancement of professional relationships between the civil engineers of the United States of America and Canada.
Thank you to Joel Ulring, Chair of the Cold Regions Engineering Awards Committee, who made the trip from Minnesota to Victoria to make the presentation to Mr. Shields at the March 2025 meeting of the Vancouver Island Geotechnical Group.
