
Congratulations to Mr. Craig “Beez” Hazen on earning the 2025 Harold R. Peyton Award and for an outstanding consulting career in cold regions engineering dedicated to serving the oil industry infrastructure and pipeline areas by providing specialty arctic engineering services to owners, engineers and constructors in arctic regions.
Mr. Hazen worked for several years in the oil industry infrastructure and pipeline consulting arena before founding Northern Engineering & Scientific (NES) in 1987. Through this firm, he served as a specialty Arctic Engineer consultant to owners, engineers and constructers in arctic regions. He has extensive experience with the engineering design and management of projects in cold regions, with geotechnical exploration and laboratory programs, and using computer models to develop and refine engineering designs.
Mr. Hazen earned his bachelors (1976) and master’s (1979) degrees in civil engineering from the University of Alaska Anchorage. He is a registered Professional Civil Engineer in the State of Alaska (#CE6888).
Mr. Hazen has conducted engineering feasibility studies and engineering design of various arctic projects. He has presented and published many documents of his work in furthering the profession of cold regions artic engineering.
