Course Length: 1 Hour

Purpose and Background

Sustainable techniques and approaches are being applied to water, wastewater, transportation, and other types of infrastructure. A key challenge remains however: how can municipalities quantify and report on these investments? How can municipalities make the case for more sustainable infrastructure to their constituents and elected officials?

The Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure’s ENVISION™ rating system is a new tool designed to recognize and encourage sustainable infrastructure development. This webinar will provide an overview of the ENVISION™ tool which was developed by the Institute for Sustainable Infrastructure - a joint program of APWA, ASCE, and ACEC. The webinar will provide the business case for sustainable infrastructure, background on the ENVISION™ tool itself, and alternative ways in which the tool can be used for planning, designing, and rating projects.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Increase awareness of the ENVISION ™ tool for incorporating sustainability principles into engineering planning and design
