Victor E. Van Santen, P.E., S.E., F.SEI, F.ASCE, an associate vice president at HDR in Chicago, where he has worked for the past 17 years, has been named a fellow by the ASCE Board of Direction.
Van Santen serves as the rail section manager responsible for railway transportation project management, program management, business development, and professional development at HDR Chicago. He is also a fellow of ASCE’s Structural Engineering Institute (SEI).
He has been an ASCE member for 27 years and has been active in the Society and SEI in many ways, including serving as chair of the SEI Illinois Chapter, director of ASCE Illinois Section, and chair of the Local Activities Division (LAD) of SEI. Van Santen is currently serving as president of the SEI Board of Governors. He has a heart for helping local SEI chapters form, develop, and thrive through networking, leadership development, and membership growth.
Van Santen lives near Chicago with his family. In his free time he enjoys traveling, being active in his church, and doing math problems with his daughters.
He is a licensed professional engineer in several states and a licensed structural engineer in Illinois.
