Jorge A. Jaramillo, P.E., F.ASCE, principal engineer for Brown and Caldwell, in Florida, has been named a fellow by the ASCE Board of Direction.
Jaramillo, after working in the private sector, Palm Beach County Water Utilities, and South Florida Water Management District, joined Brown and Caldwell in 2017. In his current position he is responsible for project management and construction management of utility and water resources projects in the south Florida area.
During his career, Jaramillo has worked on the planning, design, and construction of several utility and water resources projects ranging from water and wastewater treatment plants, water mains and force mains, lift stations, and sewage collection systems to large above-ground impoundments, reservoirs, spreader canal systems, conveyance canals, pump stations, spillways, inflow and outflow structures, stormwater treatment areas, wetland rehabilitation, and upland and wetland restoration, including rehabilitation and replacement of the existing Central and South Florida Flood Control project infrastructure, which was built by the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers back in the 1970's.
Jaramillo is a recipient of the ASCE Palm Beach Branch Government Engineer of the Year Award (2002). He also represented the ASCE Florida Section as Vice-Chairman and Governor of ASCE Region 5 between 2007 and 2010. This past January he became an ASCE life member.
He received his bachelor and master degrees in civil engineering from Florida International University in Miami and is a registered professional engineer in the State of Florida.
