Join ASCE's Committee for Claim Reduction Management for an engaging workshop on Alternative Delivery Projects.
This workshop will explore the various project delivery methods adopted in different regions of the country, covering the associated risks, benefits, and constraints of each method. Expert panelists will discuss how these methods work, why they are effective, and what engineers need to consider. The workshop will also cover current trends in the insurance industry, with insights on how engineers can positively influence these trends.
Attendees will hear "Claim War Stories," where panelists will share hypothetical project scenarios, types of claims, and lessons learned from Alternative Delivery (AD) projects. Participants will learn about risk mitigation and claims avoidance strategies, focusing on when, what, and how to implement different approaches to Design-Build, Progressive Design-Build and Construction Manager at Risk (CMAR) projects. Additionally, the workshop will address issues related to key elements of and takeaways from AD project contracts, providing hypothetical examples and strategies for managing associated risks.

Here's what some of last year's attendees had to say
- "Coming into this workshop as an "owner" and noting that the topic was about reducing claims involving contractors and engineers, I wasn't sure that I would learn a lot. But I did. Understanding the dynamics between contractors and engineers assisted me in crystallizing my thoughts regarding design-bid-build, particularly Progressive DBB."
- "Very good workshop…excellent levels of collective knowledge.”
- "It was good candid conversation which is refreshing. Great topics and very good information relative to our practice."
- "Was ideal to get other professionals together to exchange ideas. Got more out of the workshop approach than a conference."
Who should attend?
Attendees will be engineering firm leaders, project executives, project managers, risk/claims managers, in-house counsels, and underwriters from the professional liability insurance industry.
