Purpose and Background

This course will focus on providing a wide range of audience participants with the skills necessary to adequately manage the design process. Participants will learn techniques for keeping projects on schedule and within budget. In this second session, participants will learn how to recognize the integration and interrelatedness of cost, time, quality and resources. Developing a Work Plan and Organizing Resources will be emphasized. Topics to be discussed include Organizational, Work, and Cost Breakdown Structures, Developing Request for Proposals (RFP), Evaluating and selecting design consultants/sub-consultants, and Meeting Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) requirements during engineering design.

Assessment of Learning Outcomes
