Purpose and Background
Successful project management requires the application of engineering and management control techniques to construction projects. The post-award progress of the construction project must be monitored, measured, and analyzed within the context of a project controls system that provides periodic reports on the actual project progress with regard to cost, schedule, and quality. Construction project control techniques using critical path method schedules, earned value analysis, and performance metrics are included in this course. The role of equipment selection and utilization, project administration, construction process simulation, quality management, and productivity improvement programs are also discussed.
Benefits and Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Describe the role of the construction engineer in controlling costs, schedule, and quality during the construction phase on projects.
- Apply advanced cost and schedule control techniques during construction to achieve project budget and schedule objectives.
- Identify the cost/schedule trends using cost and resource-loaded schedules.
- Apply the principles of project controls to identify project performance trends and relate them to managing cash flow.
Assessment of Learning Outcomes
Achievement of the learning outcomes by attendees will be assessed through?a?final exam.

How to Earn your CEUs/PDHs and Receive Your Certificate of Completion
This course is worth .5 CEUs/5 PDHs. To receive your certificate of completion, you will need to complete a short on-line post-test (final exam) and receive a passing score of 70% or higher.
How do I convert CEUs to PDHs?
1.0 CEU = 10 PDHs [Example: 0.1 CEU = 1 PDH]
