Purpose and Background
Pavement Preservation has become a key concept in the management of pavements. A fundamental pavement preservation technique is the sealing and/or filling of cracks. This activity can provide a significant increase in the life of the pavement. This webinar focuses on the types of contracts available to owners, material properties that should be evaluated and the construction processes required to achieve a good crack seal installation. It also discusses types of cracks in asphalt pavements and appropriate treatments for each. This webinar was developed from the NCHRP Crack Sealing Report 784 developed by the author.
