View Important Policies and System Requirements for this course
INSTRUCTOR: Christian Meinhardt, Dr.- Ing. / Dipl.-Ing
Course Length: 2 hour
Purpose and Background
This webinar offers an insight about the requirements for supplementary damping for tall buildings and long span/slender bridge structures. The dynamic loading due to wind will be described as well as the required analysis for these structures. For the practical applications, methods to estimate the required amount of supplementary damping and the dimensioning of passive and active devices will be introduced.
Benefits and Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:
- Apply state of the art solutions of structural control
- Explain practical considerations for the real world application of devices to increase structural damping
- Learn about challenges and solutions – get an idea about costs.
Assessment of Learning Outcomes
Achievement of the learning outcomes by attendees will be assessed through a short post-test (true-false, multiple choice and fill in the blank questions).
