Purpose and Background

This webinar will include a discussion of the many types of wood deterioration, methods of investigating wood deterioration, and methods of repairing deteriorated wood structures. In addition, this webinar will include a discussion of vintage wood framing systems including cementitious-wood products. The webinar will also discuss wood stress skin panels and mass timber construction. At the conclusion of the webinar three wood project examples will be discussed.

Benefits and Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  1. Become familiar with at least six different types of wood deterioration.
  2. Understand at least seven methods of investigating deteriorated wood structures.
  3. Become knowledgeable with four different methods of repairing deteriorated wood.
  4. Become familiar with four types of vintage wood framing systems.
  5. Structures understand what a wood stress skin panel is.
  6. Become familiar with mass timber construction.
  7. Learn how all of the above learning outcomes were applied to three different wood structure investigation and repair projects.

Assessment of Learning Outcomes

Students' achievement of the learning outcomes will be assessed via a short post-assessment (true-false, multiple choice and fill in the blank questions).
