Younger Member Committee
Purpose:
The Transportation and Development (T&DI) Committee on Younger Members (CYM) focuses on matters of the professional development of transportation-focused civil engineers 35 years of age or younger and facilitate their engagement with, and participation in, the Society and T&DI. CYM supports all ASCE T&DI younger members, whether academic or industry focused. The committee plans and organizes younger member activities for the International Conference on Transportation and Development (ICTD), facilitates an annual student competition to foster student engagement in T&DI, advocates for more younger member resources, and works to advertise existing resources (e.g., publications, conferences, workshops, technical councils, etc.) to the younger member community.
International Conference on Transportation and Development (ICTD) 2025
ASCE’s flagship conference in transportation and development, co-located with ASCE’s longstanding specialty conference on airfield & highway pavements for an invaluable experience of two conferences in one. Held in partnership with the Arizona Department of Transportation.
Meet the chair
Hampton Worthey, P.E., M.ASCE
Hampton Worthey is a civil engineer in the Aviation Department at Michael Baker International. He received both his bachelors and masters degrees from the University of Georgia, where he researched pavement material properties and their influence on mechanistic empirical pavement design systems. Since joining MBI, he has continued the pursuit of pavement expertise while collaborating on numerous airfield projects in the metro Atlanta area, including airfield pavement evaluations and rehabilitations. Hampton looks forward to growing aviation within the transportation industry and inspiring the next generation of engineers.
