MEET THE CHAIR

Ghim Ping (Raymond) Ong, Ph.D, M. ASCE

Dr. Ong (PhD 2007, National University of Singapore) is an associate professor and the Associate Head (Research) in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the National University of Singapore. Dr Ong’s research is motivated by the technological, social, economic and financial, and environmental issues associated with transportation infrastructure development and operations. His research interests include technical and economic aspects of pavement engineering and management, and multimodal transport infrastructures and operations. Dr Ong’s published works include over 70 peer-reviewed journal articles and  over 110 international conference presentations, including invited speaker roles and keynote speeches. He is an active consultant to public agencies and companies in Singapore and Asia, and he serves as editorial board member and associate editors for various scientific journals in transportation research. Ong’s major research award include the ASCE’s Alfred Noble Prize, International Association of Maritime Economist (IAME)’s Hanjin Prize, Overseas Coastal Development Institute of Japan (OCDI) Takeuchi Yoshio Award, International Society of Maintenance and Rehabilitation of Transport Infrastructure (iSMARTi) Early Career Award and several best paper awards in international conferences.
