Region 4 Director
Christina L. Ammens is a Project Manager for the City of Virginia Beach Public Works Transportation
Department. She has 18 years of design and project management experience in transportation and site
development. She currently manages a wide variety of transportation projects for the City of Virginia
Beach, including an intersection widening project, sidewalk projects, a park site development project,
and roadway projects that mitigate sea-level rise. Prior to coming to the City of Virginia Beach, she
worked as a design consultant for 15 years on residential, commercial, and federal site development and
transportation projects.
Christina is a licensed PE in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the State of
North Carolina.
She graduated from Old Dominion University (ODU) with a degree in Civil Engineering in 2005. While at
ODU, she pledged her sorority, Alpha Phi and started volunteering with ASCE. She has a wide breath of
involvement in ASCE over the course of her career. She has served various roles at the ODU Student
Chapter, Norfolk Branch, Virginia Section, Region 4, and Society Level Committees. She served two
terms as the ASCE Region 4 Governor for the Virginia Section. She currently serves as one of the
Practioning Advisors to the ODU ASCE Student Chapter.
Outside of ASCE, Christina volunteers on the fundraising committee and serves as website chair for the
Old Dominion University Civil and Environmental Engineering Visiting Council (ODU CEEVC). She enjoys
concerts, building Halloween decorations, cheering on her Alma mater at football games (Go
Monarchs!) and spending time with her godchildren. She is originally from Spotsylvania, VA and
currently lives in Virginia Beach, VA with her boyfriend, Alec, and her dog, Galaxy.
