Join ASCEASCE–Swiss Prize
In support of innovative research in the domain of Civil Engineering, the ASCE Switzerland International Group has established the ASCE-Swiss Prize in recognition of exceptional Master theses, which combine scientific advances with application areas of practical relevance in the domain of Civil Engineering. This is a Swiss-wide award, awarded annually to a winner from a pool of candidates across all Swiss Institutions that offer an MSc degree in Civil Engineering.
2024 ASCE–Swiss Award Winner:
- Mrs. Mariam Hassan (EPFL) for her MSc thesis entitled " NeRF-Based Approach for Thermographic 3D Reconstruction: A Study on Multimodality and Uncertainty Integration", supervisors: Prof. Dr. Olga Fink and Dr. Florent Forest (EPFL)

Award Conditions:
- The prize is established in recognition of exceptional Master theses, which combine scientific advances with application areas of practical relevance in the domain of Civil Engineering.
- Applications are welcomed from Institutions across Switzerland offering a Master’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Nominations are accepted from faculty members of corresponding Institutions who supervised the Master thesis.
- The prize is awarded annually.
- The Master thesis should have been formally accepted by the corresponding institution by the submission deadline.
- The acceptance date of the thesis should lie within 18 months since the submission date
- Applications are assessed by the board of the ASCE Swiss Group.
- The award will be presented during a ceremony at the annual meeting of the ASCE Board.
Required Documents:
- An electronic copy of the Master thesis in PDF format
- A formal document mentioning the awarded grade.
- A letter of recommendation written by the supervisor of the thesis or other professional, which highlights the contributions and justifies the value of the work.
- Any further supporting documentation.
- Curriculum Vitae of the thesis author
