The Industry Challenges in Engineering Mechanics (ICiEM) workshop was held at EMI/PMC 2024 Conference in Chicago, IL. The purpose of this session was to foster the connection between research in academia and applications in industry.
Industry practitioners presented ongoing and emerging engineering mechanics challenges from their respective areas, such as automotive, energy, forensic and protection engineering. Practical problems were posed as fundamental engineering mechanics problems.
Open research challenges were discussed as well as various mechanisms for industry-academia partnership development. Speakers from academia shared their experiences in effective approaches towards developing industry-academia research collaborations.
